Psilocybe cubensis Moby dick is a very strong cross between two extraordinary mushroom strains: Albino A+ and Golden Teacher.

The Moby Dick does remind us a bit of the giant white whale, hence the name. The strain has the colour of ivory and is very fleshy, covered with white down. The hats have a significant lack of pigment and are light blue in colour. They usually tear before the fruiting body is fully grown. An exciting variety!

Studies on psilocybin

A study was conducted at John Hopkins University. This involved research into whether psilocybin could bring about a permanent change in personality. The research was done with healthy volunteers. For 60% of the participants, a single session with a dose of psiloybin had made a lasting impression. The word ‘openness’ was used to describe this change in personality, closely related to creativity and curiosity.
Roland Griffiths, Principal Investigator and Professor of Psychiatry, found this remarkable. In general, people become less ‘open’ as they get older.

A study of the effects of psilocybin, the active ingredient in mushrooms, has also been conducted at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine. The healthy subjects were given either a pill containing psilocybin or an active placebo (methylphenidate). All of them had never taken a psychedelic drug before. In this research a lot of attention was paid to Set and Setting.
